ASSEMBLYMEMBER DIXON AND SENATOR NGUYEN REQUEST ORANGE COUNTY TO BE INCLUDED IN STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION

RE: State of Emergency Declaration

Dear Governor Newsom:

We are contacting you today to ask that you include Orange County to the State of Emergency Declarations currently in effect for numerous counties in the State of California.

Orange County has been hit hard with an exceptionally high amount of rain during the past few storms that has caused extensive damage, including a landslide within the Dover Shores area in Newport Beach. This has resulted in one home being red-tagged so far and the two adjacent homes currently yellow-tagged. This number could increase given the additional rain forecasted over the next 10 days.

We respectfully ask for Orange County to be included in your State of Emergency Declaration in order for these communities to access needed funding in order to mitigate further damage and clean up and repair damages already sustained. We believe that the County of Orange will be asking to be included in the declaration at its next official Board of Supervisors meeting.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, Senator Janet Nguyen 916-651-4036 or Assemblymember Diane Dixon 916-319-2072.

Sincerely,
